Here’s hoping some of you are still with me. I still have lots to say, and I’m hoping some people still want to listen to it!
I’m watching Smackdown right now, thanks to the DVR, and it’s looking like a solid show thus far. I like Kofi on Smackdown, editing will help him in some cases and of course he can work with some smaller guys and have some dazzling matches. I’m interested in seeing him work with Drew McIntyre and maybe continuing on with Cody Rhodes. It’s a shame we won’t be seeing the Rhodes Rivalry some internet pundits had predicted, but I don’t see it as a problem, so much as an opportunity in disguise. All things come to those who wait.
I spent close to twelve hours on Monday, in Hagersville, Ontario taking in the Brawl at the Bush. If you follow my page, you know what I’m talking about. Nick Wyman is a class act, first and foremost. He gave me some great access to his talent, and was more than accommodating for anything we needed. Thanks for a great time, Nick. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The show was long, but I thought what it brought to the table was unique, fan oriented, and of course, a great cause as well. While I haven’t gotten a total amount of money raised for the Cancer related group, I’m sure the support was mighty heavy.
The show was fantastic. Matches were fast paced, well worked, and of course, had all the great spots for the kids. Mystery guest Colin Delaney hit some phenomenal moves in his Four Way Match with Johnny Devine, Cody Deaner, and Tyson Dux.
Brutus Beefcake had a classic match up with Jim the Anvil Neidhardt and it was as good as it could be expected. Solid working, classic spots, and of course, the uber cool tights. I must say, Jim was one of the funniest guys there. We had a bit of a chat and I mentioned I was friendly with some of his nieces and nephews. We had a ncie chat, and he was truly cordial.
The other thing I HAVE to mention is Tatanka. The Native American superstar was in total and complete control. I saw some new moves and some classic ones, and he hasn’t missed a step. Apparently, he worked the night before and it was the same story. He’s a well oiled machine, working well in the place he was meant to be. I spoke with him about the Wembly Stadium event and the 80,000 plus that were there for Summer Slam. He said the noise was deafening and the party afterwards was insane. “That was then. You can’t party like that anymore. It was just the way it was at the time.” He says. Jim mentioned he was out with Davey Boy Smith that night and had a few pints himself. Steve Corino and Hillbilly Jim were no shows, although I understand Corino had passport issues and that’s tough on anyone. There was no official word on Jim.
Overall, the show was really long and drawn out in parts. It didn’t keep the pace it needed to, and I did see quite a few families leaving well before the final bell. Which is a shame, because Canadian Extreme had a wicked match with the Highlanders and they missed a real beauty. Kryss Thorn had also worked a show very recently and was still in tip top order ALL the matches he worked that night.
Commercial BREAK!!!!
I pity the fool who doesn't enjoy a balanced breakfast. Ok, I have a serious question and I want some answers on this one. When you watch these cereal comercials and you see the kids got some toast, some orange juice, maybe an extra glass of milk. Heck, I've even seen some fresh furit. Who's getting that much for breakfast on a regular basis? Especially if all you're having is cereal? Any thoughts?
Cntinuing on...
So, May 30th is going to be WICKED awesome. In case you haven’t heard, Alpha 1 will be returning home to the Knights of Columbus Hall on Parkdale and Queenston, to bring Hamilton the BEST in professional wrestling. The line-up, as always is fantastic.
First up, we have a phenomenal tag team match, with the Entourage taking on the tandem of Colin Delaney and the Hornet. This all stems from the first Alpha event, in which Melo’s size 12 shoe was the decisive factor in Ethan’s match with the former WWE Superstar. His choice of partner couldn’t be better in Hornet, who I have been watching since he started, working for the PWE at Kiwanis. He’s matured and his workrate is topnotch. I’m hoping he brings his valet and big Mohawk hairdo with him this time, as it adds to his character and really gets a pop from the kids.
Speaking of the kids, I spoke with a mother at the last event and her child refuses to remove his Hacker glasses. They went on a recent trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls and he wore them everywhere. To the pool and water park and even out for meals. Some of these little ‘Gigabytes’ are absolutely overloading for their favorite Hard Drive Hero. I’ll have more on him next week.
As always, it's ten dollars. You can get all the info on thier Facebook group, event page, and of course at www.alpha-1wrestling.com All of this is just goin to show why Alpha 1 is still the best value in sports entertainment in Hamilton on the independent level.
So in closing, I’ll add my interview with Colin from the Brawl at the Bush. The audio is a little weak, but it’s candid, and it’s straight forward. The arena was enormously loud, and believe it or not, this was the quietest place we could find to do the interview.
Thanks again for reading, and we’ll talk again soon. I promise not to stay away too long.
